As I see it: Presidential Wannabes (Part 2)
"Talino at Galing". That's the theme of Gibo's campaign ads for 2010 Presidential Elections. I got to see Gibo's interview with Cheche Lazaro in Profiles and I'm quite impressed by the way he delivers his answers and how he deals with sensitive questions and topics. Gibo's answers were quick and clear. Gibo is a realist, as I see it. He can run the country with flying colors. That, of course, remains to be seen.
Who is Sec. Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr.?
Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr. is tagged as the political son of Danding Cojuangco. But, Gibo later on resigned from NPC, Danding Cojuangco's political party, and joined Lakas-Kampi.
Gibo is the 34th and youngest Department of National Defense Secretary. Also, he is very much involved in disaster management as chairman of National Disaster Coordinating Council. Gibo's policatical begun in 1998 when he won and became Tarlac’s First District Representative for three terms (nine years).
Gibo is a lawyer by profession and by the way he topped the Philippine Bar exams in 1989. Impressive, isn't it? Here's more! In case you have not heard of this.... Gilbert Teodoro was given the first honorary Doctor of Laws degree by West Negros University here in Bacolod. That's not it. Aside from being a licensed commercial pilot, he also holds rank as colonel in the Philippine Air Force Reserve Force.; thus, he was qualified and became the youngest secretary of National Defense.
Well, yes, I am impressed with all Sec. Gibo's credentials. But, the only thing that may pull him down is the fact that he is under the ticket of the administration. The very infamous administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. I know the administration got all the machinery but the young electorate wants "change". And, it may not help Gibo's campaign.

From Google Chrome Browser to Google Chrome OS
Here's an article I got from webopedia. It talks about the newest Google OS which Google is now brewing for its avid consumers. I think this is good news. It is because (if this goes available, in a matter of time) we would give ourselves a break to the very expensive and indespensible OS in the world - MAC and Microsoft's Windows.
Now There's Google Chrome — the OS
On July 7, 2009, nine months after the Chrome browser was released, Google announced an extension to Google Chrome — the Google Chrome Operating System.
According to Google, current operating systems were originally designed in an era where there was no Web, and Google Chrome is described as a lightweight operating system will make its debut targeting netbook devices.
The new operating system, according to Google, will focus on speed and simplicity. The goal will be to have users start-up and get onto the Web in seconds. Like the Chrome browser interface, the OS interface will also be minimal — Google said they want to OS to "stay out of the user's way".
Being online, especially with a Windows-based system, users are constantly targeted by malicious spyware, viruses and other security issues. To prevent this, Google said that the Chrome OS would have a completely redesigned security architecture so that users would not need to deal with issues such as viruses, malware and security updates. Google says that the Chrome OS should "just work."
Google also indicted that the OS would be able to run on both x86 as well as ARM chips. Additionally, the company is working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year.
Google OS Architecture
Google says that the software architecture is simple —Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.
On the official Google blog, Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management and Linus Upson, engineering director posted, "For application developers, the Web is the platform. All Web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite Web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform."
Google also said that they will open-source the code later this year, and netbooks running the Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.
On the Google blog, the two Google representatives said, "Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve".

Google Chrome Browser Is Faster
I've been using Google Chrome browser for almost a month now and been impressed on its functionality so far. True to its words, google chrome loads faster compared to both Mozilla's Firefox and Internet Explorer browser. It has a better user-interface and easy-on-the-eye design, too. I like it better than the other browsers.
Google Chrome is...
Fast start-up
Google Chrome launches in a snap.
Fast loading
Google Chrome loads web pages quickly.
Fast search
Search the web right from the address bar.
By definition, Google Chrome, an Internet browser developed by Google Inc. that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the Web faster, safer and easier. The Google Chrome browser offers features including access to favorite pages instantly with thumbnails, desktop shortcuts to launch Web applications, and independently run tabs within the browser to prevent browser crashing. Chrome browser is available for Windows Vista and Windows XP SP2.
I heard Google is currently working on its Google OS.

Are You A Coffee Drinker? Think Again
Beware!!!
A recent study broke down the calorie count of popular coffeehouse beverages. Well, the bad news is, blended beverages (anything other than straight coffee or tea) normally packed with 200 calories or more -- this would be very scary for those who are very conscious with their body figures because drinking blended coffee daily could add 20 pounds to your body weight.
Most of these calories come from sweetened drinks like soda and juice, but blended coffeehouse drinks contribute, too. Imagine cappuccinos, lattes, frappes, smoothies (anything where the barista blends something into your drink).
Good news is, if you are really addicted to coffee drinking, there's no need to ditch your daily coffee jaunt completely. In fact, your coffee may have health benefits. But make smart choices. Better off, drink brewed coffee or tea with added milk and sugar and you're looking at only about 60 calories a serving. Less calorie is bounded on a little skim milk and sugar by your own hand than the coffeehouse prep. And if you really really have to do the blended thing, order the smallest size available; settle for the "lighter" versions.

Grey Digital Cameras
This is probably a new term to you as it is to me. So, read along, this could be useful to you.
While I was surfing the net, I stumbled upon some matches of my searches that talk about Grey Market. It comes out everytime I search on where to best buy digital cameras. So I research more about Grey Market. By definition, a Grey Market is basically the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer. In contrast, a black market is the trade of goods and services that are illegal in themselves and/or distributed through illegal channels, such as the selling of stolen goods, certain drugs or unregistered handguns.
So, if you encounter deals to buy digital cameras that sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Usually, they offer you much lower prices with freebies as compared to local authorized shops. And, Grey units have warranties that are ineligible for repair to its corresponding service centers. Visit camera manufacturer's website and read their grey market advisory.
Also, I'd like to add that some specifications and components such as video output, electrical adapters and camera drivers are often not compatible in the country other than where it is purchased. These items usually can not be changed to another country’s specifications.
Now, if you decide to buy grey market digital cameras or any electronics stuff (i.e. gadgets), make sure it is from a reputable merchant.
One more thing, check that the barcode with the serial number on the outside of the camera box matches the serial number on the bottom of the digital camera.
